Wynfield Plantation
Wynfield Plantation is both a state of being and a state of mind. Our 2,000 acres are woven throughout with native grasses, annual weeds, brambles, shrubs, and timberland in a mosaic of soft edges, open land and woody draws, offering you the perfect Bobwhite Quail habitat. Our veteran guides, hard charging bird dogs, classic shotguns and fully equipped jeeps supply the perfect quail-hunting environment. This combination of habitat, experience and resources will provide you with the perfect South Georgia quail hunting experience, the one you have been dreaming about for a lifetime. While Wynfield is not the largest of the Albany, Georgia’s Quail Plantations, it is the shining jewel in its crown. Perhaps that is why we were honored as the “Orvis Wingshooting Lodge of the Year” in 2005, named in 2006 as “One of the Top Twenty Wingshooting Destinations in the World” by legendary wingshooting author and editor Steve Smith in his book A Wingshooter’s World, and voted one of the “Top Fifty People, Places and Things in the South” by Garden and Gun Magazine.
Wynfield Plantation is the embodiment of Southern charm and hospitality. From the moment you step into our rustic hunting lodge, you will be surrounded by the timeless look and feel of a true quail hunting experience. After a long day’s hunt, linger here and sip a glass or two of aged whiskey as you visit with old friends or make some new ones. Swap stories, make plans, and get acquainted with a legendary way of life. Just like barbeque, sweet tea and football on a Saturday afternoon, quail hunting is a part of our lives, a part of how we grew up, and it’s a part of what being from the South is all about. We want you be a part of this exciting tradition, too. While you’re at Wynfield, we guarantee that you’ll find your way to our kitchen. Once there, say “hey” to Rowe, the woman who works magic with down home Southern cuisine and who has fed a legion of Wynfield hunters over the past fifteen years. When you’ve had your fill of her famous southern fried chicken, mashed potatoes and homemade biscuits, you’ll want to rock awhile on our shady front porch and let the world drift past. Feeling more ambitious than that? Take a walk around our gorgeous pond, stroll down to the kennels or take a turn at the sporting clays. Live life in the slow lane for a while and let your cares go.
