Splay the Microfibetts by pushing down with your fingernail and pull the dubbing loop thread up through the Microfibetts to evenly separate them. Lightly secure the thread loop and adjust the tension so both sets slightly angle off the hook shank; then firmly secure the thread and cut off the excess material.
Tie in a piece of Krystal Flash, dub a thin, tapered body over two-thirds of the hook shank, and then rib the abdomen with the Krystal Flash.
Secure a strip of gray foam for the wing base. Don’t trim it too short—keep it long to make it easier to hold upright while wrapping the hackle and dubbing in a later step. Add a drop of glue at the base to help fuse it together with the thread and hook.
