Most anglers love to fish a pattern that has some sort of action built into the fly. Whether tossing articulated streamers for big brown trout or surface and subsurface flies to largemouth bass, fishermen agree that a fly with lifelike movement will elicit more strikes. Flies designed for movement typically incorporate materials that breathe under water, such as saddle hackle, rabbit strips, marabou, ostrich, artic fox, and bucktail. More recently, synthetic materials that breathe in the water are becoming popular among fly tiers. Polar Fibre, extra select Craft Fur, and SF Flash Blend are but a few of the extremely supple fibers that move brilliantly under water.
